SunSketcher App for the Great North American Eclipse
SunSketcher is a citizen science initiative designed for the April 8th, 2024 Great North American Eclipse. This app aims to create a vast database of eclipse images to help scientists model the Sun more accurately. By utilizing your location, SunSketcher automatically captures eclipse photos during totality, eliminating the need for precise settings. Users can then choose to upload these photos for scientific analysis.
Citizen science involves volunteers from the public, regardless of scientific background, contributing to large research datasets. SunSketcher's project will provide valuable Baily's Bead images to determine the Sun's shape with precision, aiding heliophysics research and potential tests of gravity theories.
